About: Palsgraaf is a Dutch artist and social media personality born in 1979. His work is primarily based on destruction and urban decay. Although he works in a variety of media, he's mostly known for his mixed media sculptures

Every time I look at one of Palsgraaf's pieces, I'm always amazed at how he's assembled it. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but each sculpture sticks out from the wall to create the impression of a 3D space. Although these are technically relief sculptures, they still convey a really strong sense of depth and space. His use of neutral colors and mixed media really help develop his themes of emptiness and decay

Palsgraaf's work is about as different from mine as you could possibly get, but there's still a lot I can take from him. I'd like to start using more neutral colors to better explore my theme of conformity, especially using those neutrals to contrast a brighter color. I'm also experimenting with media, so if I ever want to try sculpture, I'll use his work as inspiration when trying to convey depth and perspective.
