Drawing a giant pile of chameleons (Home Project Process Post)

So far, my home project is going well! I've decided to stick with my body of work but experiment with making a larger-scale "fine art" piece about a chameleon idea I've been kicking around.

A couple weeks ago, I started with drawing and coloring a bunch of chameleons to fully nail the style. It was really fun to get my alcohol markers back out and play with color again. I've really missed working with color, and I'm really excited to finally make a piece that uses color to create humor.

Since then, I've been slowly filling up my paper with chameleons. I tried to use the shapes of the chameleons' heads to create diagonals and arrows pointing toward my focal point: the chameleon looking directly at the audience. Eventually, that chameleon is going to pink while the others stay green, and I think that once I start adding color, the special chameleon will begin to pop out.
